A fun and safe environment for every dog.

Energetic play and new friends.
If dogs could design a perfect world, that’s what they would want.

Established in 1988 and incorporated in 1990, Dog World is operated on a 50-acre property 20 minutes West of Ottawa.

For more than 30 years, dogs have enjoyed entertainment programs that fulfill both social and non-social canine friends.

With climate controlled facilities, grassy park spaces to provide unlimited park play with other dogs, groomed nature trails for hikes, water play areas such as our one of a kind inground pool and our natural water park, indoor play areas with agility equipment and treadmills, and cozy lounge areas for couch chill time, dogs are guaranteed to enjoy their adventure here at Dog World.

Why Choose Us

Dog World provides a fun and safe environment for every dog in our care. Our team of trainers and dog handlers makes the management, care and well being of dogs our top priority.

Each team member participates in an extensive training program that covers diet, health, tools, psychology, pack management, safety, customer service and the shaping of animal behaviour. We offer tailored programs to meet the needs of social and non-social canines which has led to a very high level of understanding of dogs and highly developed skills in pack management.  We build a relationship with the dogs in our care while working on name recognition and recall and maintaining a safe environment in our play yards.

Nobody can match our ability to integrate friendly and “not so friendly” dogs into our off-leash groups.  With programs for low, medium, and high energy dogs, we believe we truly approach dog care from an educated standpoint.

Dogs thrive here and their smiles say it all.

Kim Holden

A pioneer in offering Ottawa and the Valley activity-based dog handling.  Kim’s dream was to give dogs and their owners more than just kennels with dogs in runs who could let themselves in and out of a doggie door to a yard.

30 years later, many facilities of a similar style exist that share her dream of exercise and activities. However, Kim’s approach of applying behavioural techniques and promoting good manners shows a level of responsible care that makes Dog World unique. Through courses, workshops, and seminars, Kim has built a wealth of knowledge in handling dogs of all temperaments, breeds, and behaviours. She continues to educate herself and her team of passionate animal lovers.

Kim has written and developed manuals, referenced by the City of Ottawa, on evacuation procedures and dealing with sick and injured dogs. She has also created a complete training manual of policies and protocols that cover all aspects of the day to day care of dogs at Dog World.

Our Philosophy

We continue to shape good behaviours during your dog’s stay by using clear communication and follow through to support a foundation that allows dogs to express themselves while having fun.  We work on name recognition and recall, maintaining a safe and fun experience in our play yards. We also work on exercises to discourage jumping, barking, pulling, and fighting and encourage calmness, polite greetings, and safe play.

Dog World is unique in offering a level of responsible care that supports every owner’s goal of a well-behaved dog.

By integrating a good canine manner program similar to the CKC Canine Good Neighbour program, we connect directly with each dog to best support them when they are away from you. Some examples include practicing calmness by encouraging an anxious dog to sit and ensuring a barking dog is taught that lying down quietly is a better choice.
